Aatish Kapadia opens up on if Star Plus’ SLUMP period will AFFECT Khichdi’s ratings

It was barely a couple of weeks ago, where we did an opinionated piece about how Star Plus has lost its supremacy and how the upcoming line-up of shows can be of some solace to the channel’s plans of a redemption.

With one of the most cult shows of all time, Khichdi making a comeback after hiatus, the channel’s weekend slot seems to be taken care of.

However, in a vis-a-vis conversation with the co-producer, writer, and director of Khichdi, Aatish Kapadia, we asked him if the channel’s slump period will affect Khichdi’s fate and/or Khichdi will become the welcome change for the channel.

To this, Aatish said, “To be very honest, I don’t bother about it. If tomorrow, Khichdi does wonders and rakes in large numbers and things look rosy, I won’t go ahead to say and claim, that look, I did that. Every channel goes through ups and downs. There was a time when Star was invincible and all the top shows would be on Star. Then, Zee TV had its time, Sony TV came back in the race, Colors is a leader and NDTV Imagine was a promising channel but shut down; all this keeps happening. The ones who have qualitatively stuck to their guns have survived. This is what I can easily vouch for when it comes to Star Plus. There is a constant effort to break the apparent trend’ and keep doing new things. Sometimes, it has worked out for the best, where there were shows like Sasural Genda Phool and Maryaada Lekin Kab Tak? to name a couple.”

He concluded, “So, this will be a constant and the cycle will keep shuffling. But, neither should we be concerned about it and I have full faith in Star Plus, as a channel and all the more in our product, Khichdi.”

We, however, hope Khichdi does become the game changer for Star Plus.
