I have added another feather in my cap – Sumedh Mudgalkar

Young actor Sumedh Mudgalkar, who will be seen in a historical show Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, talks about character and more in conversation with us.

Dancer turned actor Sumedh Mudgalkar won many hearts through his debut show Dil Dosti Dance on Channel V. Sumedh was one of the contestants in Dance India Dance 4, where he showcased his talent and ability for dance and later his wish of acting was fulfilled as he got a chance to act in a dance based fiction show Dil Dostii Dance.

Well, Sumedh will be seen essaying the role of an emperor in Colors’ much touted historical show, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.

We got in touch with Sumedh to know more about his character in the show, bonding with co-stars and more…

Tell us something about you character?

Well I am playing the character of Sushima who is the eldest son of Bindusara (Sameer Dharmadhikari) and his first wife Charumitra (Prinal Oberoi). He is the eldest step brother of Ashoka (Siddharth Nigam) and both of us are unaware about it in the show.

Basically I am the antagonist in the show who is very proudy as he is the son of the majestic king and is born with a sliver spoon. He is very self-obsessed and cannot bear if anyone insults him. Audience will see many tiffs between Ashoka and Sushima. He will do all possible things to become the king of the kingdom as it’s his ultimate goal.

After doing Dil Dostii Dance where you had to act as well as dance which is your forte, so how did you think of taking up a historical show like Ashoka?

Well, Dil Dostii Dance show was a learning show for me. I was a dancer and never an actor though I always wanted to become actor, but Dil Dostii Dance made me an actor. D3 has taught me a lot that how to face camera, how to act and so.

Later when I got an offer for the show Ashoka, I thought it will add another feather in my cap and so I took up this show. Obviously there is a vast difference in both the shows, but I will learn things soon because it’s better to keep on exploring various things. Like when I came here, I got to know that I will have to do horse riding and I was unable to attend the workshop which was organized before commencing with the shoot because I was busy with something else. So whenever I get time while shooting, I make sure to ask the trainer to teach me horse riding. So these are the little things which I am learning and this all things will add on to my knowledge and will improve me.

What do you have to say about your other co-actors?

When I came for shooting, I was not aware about who all actors are there in the show. But soon I got to know that I will be working with such great and experienced actors who are in the industry from many years even before I was born.

I feel really lucky that I got chance to be part of such a great and such a big project of Colors. All the actors in the show are outstanding and here I will get to learn a lot from these experienced actors.

We wishes Sumedh Mudgalkar all the best for the new show.
