I knew that I was playing the character but when I used to read news about other actors it was nice, says Karan…

Finally, the wait is over and Karan Singh Grover will be playing Mr. Bajaj in Ekta Kapoor’s Kasauti Zindagi Ki airing on Star Plus. The show features Parth Samthaan as Anurag Basu and Erica Fernandes as Prerna Sharma. Recently, we got in touch with Karan and spoke to him about several aspects of the show. Below are the excerpts from the conversation that we had with him.

Starting up, finally, you are back on TV, there were a lot of build ups around who will play Mr. Bajaj, tell us about that?

I would say that the build ups were intense and it was maintained for a very long time and it was very exciting. I knew that I was playing Mr. Bajaj since a long time. Ekta has a vision that we are unfortunately incapable of understanding. She makes only good decisions and there is nothing that you could do to better than to follow it.

As you said you knew that you were going to play the character since a long time, so when a lot of other actors names came out be it Karan Wahi or anyone else, how did you react to that?

I knew that I was playing the character but when I used to read news about other actors it was nice. Also to see that I am a part of the league of gentlemen. It’s nice to know that we are in the same league. When other names came up I used to read and react by just saying ‘awesome.’

You had played a son-in-law in the previous version of the same show, and now Mr. Bajaj, tell us about that?

It’s awesome that I played a certain role in the previous version of the story, which is also a part of this story. Moreover, it is awesome that I am playing the character which is iconic on the television. Nobody will ever play or even touch the level Ronit played Mr. Bajaj because he made it… But it feels great to be associated with both versions of the show.

Did you have any inputs in the look of the character?

I had three inputs in the character but it was rejected within a second. I felt like what’s happening but then I thought Ekta is someone who always does good.

Have you taken any traits from Ronit’s character?

Everyone knows what the character traits of Mr. Bajaj, the writers and Ekta have craved the character with brilliance. The only thing I realized that we have taken from Ronit’s Mr. Bajaj is the Salt Pepper look. I think it’s a blessing because there is one thing that we can take from an iconic character.

Was it planned to make a comeback with not only a TV show but also on the web, since you are doing a web show too?

I would love to say that I had planned but it’s not true, I am incapable of making plans. The only thing I can plan is to get up in the morning and drink 1 litre of water. It is a plan that was made by a higher power called Ekta.

What was Bipasha’s reaction on seeing your look?

Actually, Bipasha when saw my look said one thing that she rarely says, she said, I am looking Hot, which is very awesome. I am still regret that I didn’t record it, but I am happy…

Looking forward for his entry in the show, and wishing him immense luck and success for this new venture.
