Running barefoot has been the toughest part of playing Chakor: Meera Deosthale

We in conversation with Meera Deosthale…

Cute and bubbly Meera Deosthale, who rose to fame with &TV’s ‘Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls’, is now entertaining the audience as Chakor on Colors’ popular show ‘Udann’.

After the show took a leap, Meera stepped in to the show as the grown up Chakor and is winning hearts already! In a candid conversation with us, Meera talks more about her stint as Chakor, about Young Chakor aka Spandan Chaturvedi and much more…

Meera says, “Its been really a good experience playing Chakor so far. I have been shooting a lot under the sun, since day one but still I am enjoying it a lot. Everyone is so sweet here that it makes me feel like working. I remember when I first read the script, I had thought of not giving an audition for this role because the dialogues were in Awadhi language which was difficult for me to speak but then they convinced me to come for the audition and it got clicked. Slowly I got well versed with the language when my look tests and workshops began. After 2 days I was keen on doing this role and felt quite happy and lucky for bagging this role.”

Meera also shared with us about her meeting with the young Chakor (Spandan Chaturvedi). Talking about her she shared, “I had met her when I was finalized for the role and she was having her last few days of shoots. I spent some time with her for a few days to know how she talks because I felt that the audience shouldn’t feel any difference between both of us otherwise they won’t be able connect with me in the same way like they did with Spandan. She is a live-wire and is just too good. She used to tell me about her friends, her school, about her favourite people on sets and she used to take me along to play with her little sister. She is very naughty and she asks a lot of questions about everything. She also used to guide me in speaking the lines.”

So, did Meera face any challenges while getting into the role? She answered, “Initially it was really a challenge for me as I haven’t followed the show but the director and the creative team were so nice that they used to tell me everything about Chakor and help me with that. So it became easier for me to essay this role. After 4-5 episodes, I got used to this role. The toughest part has been to run barefoot and once I had got a cut in my foot but still had to continue shooting. Running under the sun is horrible and I can never forget this.”

Meera shares a great bond with everyone on sets. She shares, “Vidhi and I share the same room and we share such a great bond that sometimes even if she isn’t shooting, she is willing to come on set (laughs). My bonding with the entire team is great; we sit together, have our lunch together and have a lot of fun together.”

Receiving such a lovely and warm response from the audience for her role, an elated Meera signs off saying, “I am very much happy with the response that I am receiving from the audience. They are giving us lot of love and it makes me very happy to be loved and appreciated by them. I was a bit nervous with the thought whether the audience will accept me as grown up Chakor or not, as they have loved Spandan a lot.”

Keep up the great job Meera!
