Our excitement has soared with the launch of third season of the popular serial Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (Star Plus and 4 Lions).

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that wishes of millions are getting fulfilled with the return of the most awaited show on the small screen and there is no doubt about the show’s humongous fan following.

The soap will star the handsome Barun Sobti and very gorgeous Shivani Tomar.

While talking to us, Shivani reveals a lot about the show, character, journey, reality show and more.

How was it working with Barun again?
It is great as Barun and I have worked together earlier, and now we are doing Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. We bonded well since the first time we met. We are very comfortable working together. He is very supportive and is also very experienced which is why it’s always good to work with him.

Could you elaborate more about your character?
Chandni is a very sweet, humble and lovable person. She knows Hindi, English, and Sanskrit. She’s very influenced by the Bhagwat Geeta and she’s a believer of lord Shiva. When you will follow the show, you’ll see the character unfold.

What made you say yes to the show?
Everything about it was attractive enough for me to say yes. The briefing was very impressive, and my character is very different. You’ll see various new things in my character.

Were you disheartened when your previous shows didn’t work out? How do you motivate yourself for your future projects then?
Of course, I feel sad when things don’t work out the way I expect them to. But I am a very positive person. It is very human to get disheartened by such things. My mom and my family have always supported me. I have done many good shows. I know at one point, things didn’t work out well but I feel everything happens for a good reason.

Do you feel nervous that Barun has a very huge fan following?
Yes, I do feel a little nervous, but I feel good too. I take it as a healthy challenge. I want this season to be better than the last two seasons. I like healthy competition and comparison.

Any role on TV that you feel you could have done better or you get inspired from? Which actress inspires you the most?
I don’t feel like doing what other people are doing. Yes, I follow what’s happening on TV and keep a tab on it, but I don’t want to do what everyone else is doing. I like to experiment with my characters. As an actor you have to try different things. I like Kajol, Juhi Chawla, Rani Mukherje. They inspire me.

How comfortable are you doing intimate scenes?
I don’t know if I’ll be comfortable kissing onscreen. I haven’t thought about all this.

What are your aspirations as an actor?
My aspirations are to work hard and experiment as much as I can.

On personal front, are you dating someone?
Right now, I am a very strong, independent person and I don’t like to talk about my relationship status or anything personal.

Sanaya and Barun’s chemistry has been largely appreciated by the audience, do you feel any complex about it?
No. I feel good that they have created a great chemistry on screen. So it is challenging for me to work hard and do better.

Do you feel lucky that you have worked with the top channels like Zee, Colors, and now Star Plus?
Yes, I feel I am very lucky to have worked with such top channels. Not that I did not have to struggle for things, however, I think things went good for me.

What kind of genre excites you?
Right now I am in love with Chandni, the character that I am playing. Usually, I like intense romantic roles, but I would like to give action a try.

What is your take on reality shows since you have not done any yet?
I do not like reality shows much. Though, I like Bigg Boss and Nach Baliye, I do not like MTV reality shows like Roadies. Right now, I have not thought of doing any reality show.

What kind of boys do you like?
I think girls like bad boys. Not very bad, but yes, I like bad boys.

What do you like to do in your leisure time?
I love reading books; recently, I have read Palace of Illusion. I love Sketching, painting, singing and dancing. I try new and different things whenever I am free.

Three things people do not know about you?
First, I am very talkative; however, I take time to open up with new people. Second, I have done a course in Graphic Designing and third, I am short tempered.

Good luck, Shivani!
